How to clean meat thermometers and thermometer probes?
To clean a digital meat thermometer, such as the Kuluner TP-01 Digital Meat Thermometer, utilizes a sensitive digital probe to provide fast and accurate readings and therefore requires careful cleaning. Simply wash the probe with soap and water, do not immerse the entire device in water as it can damage sensitive electronics, then gently rinse and dry the device with a soft towel or paper towel in preparation for disinfection.
Here are the four steps you must take to properly clean your Kuluner meat thermometer.
Step 1. Wash the thermometer in warm water
Cleaning the Thermometer Probe Hopefully the warm water will remove any residue that may be present on the probe, which will help start the disinfection process. Continue rinsing the thermometer until fat and other food residues are visually gone.
Step 2. Sanitize the thermometer with alcohol
After rinsing the thermometer with warm water, you must completely sterilize the probe using a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol. Be very gentle when applying alcohol. The probe is very delicate.
Step 3. Rinse the Thermometer
Now, it's time to rinse off any residual alcohol from the thermometer probe. A simple rinse with warm water will do.
Step 4. Air Dry Thermometer
Finally, allow the thermometer to air dry in a clean environment. Don't try to dry it with a towel or anything else. An hour or so in a clean environment will do.
